Fresh Movie Review: At a fashion endearing romantic comedy, there are only a few simple rules to follow: to find two friendly which leads chemistry sizzles, give them a simple framework that allows them to gradually fall for each other so that the public the roots the love story, and inject elements of spirit and intelligence in the script. His dead body over, the feature debut of director Jeff Lowell (which has the dubious distinction of being accredited to the writer John Tucker Must Die), missing every one of those precepts. The result, although not horrifically evil, is like a mediocre motion picture as you can find in a multiplex this season. It 'hard to hate the film because it does not generate enough emotion for this type of passion. E 'inept but, in the wake of The Hottie & Nottie, this year's gold standard for cinematic awfulness, we tend to consider other less-than-successful movie like this with more kindness. For Kate (Eva Longoria Parker) and Henry (Paul Rudd), is their wedding day. She, like its namesake Shakespearean, which is a shrew all over bronze gives the appearance of someone who spent too much time under a sun lamp. He is a little 'of a sadsack but most kids tend to be outside when it is to say "I". The moment does not arrive, however, because Kate is accidentally crushed by an ice sculpture of an angel without wings. She reappears on Earth as a ghost in time to see his beloved quasi-husband starting to do something which does not approve, becomes convinced she's here to save him from a terrible fate. What "destiny" is in the person of mental Ashley (Lake Bell), which was taken by Henry's sister, Chloe (Lindsay Sloane), to convince Henry that needs to get out more and start dating again. This is, after all, a year since the ill-fated wedding. Chloe gives Ashley Kate Ashley secret diary that will be capable of transmitting personal data during its séances. Derivarne complications when Ashley becomes attracted to Henry and he to her. That, when Kate decides to make an appearance by Ashley to scare her away. There is a touch down in history but is so obvious I hesitate to use the word "twist". I do not think that we are supposed to be surprised by it, but with the lowest common denominator script like this, who knows? I hate films in which all the characters are forced by the constraints of the plot sometimes do stupid things. It 'difficult to relate to individuals who do not dumb things people who populate this film. We expect this type of behaviour by screaming horror movie heroines but is disconcerting when lobotomized actions return in a romantic comedy. The low level of energy exposed to Paul Rudd combined with the lack of a spark between him and his leading lady, TV staple Lake Bell, are an obscure romantic affair. Campana actually plays better in front of Jason Biggs (as Bell's gay assistant) that faced Rudd, which makes some uncomfortable aspects of the resolution. His dead body over is not substantially better as a comedy of a romance. Some of the gags are funny, but most are forced. There is also an obligation to flatulence joke that goes to infinity and is not even chuckle-worthy. For most, this film feels like pieces of different sit-CMO inelegantly smashed together. This is the level at which the film is written, directed and acted. Sitting in theater, I found it hard to believe I was watching a movie. Eva Longoria Parker should have fired those who did its composition during movie scenes early. To say that his "look" is not flattering is to underestimate the issue. She looks old, waxy, and overtanned. There is no hint of the bomb brunette who has become an international symbol of sex as a result of Desperate Housewives. In fact, he almost looks like the same person. (Once it becomes a ghost, and has permission to appear a little 'more attractive.) His act is not significantly better than its appearance. Then again, and portraying someone without substance (although he inexplicably casts a shadow), so perhaps Longoria approach fits. Paul Rudd looks like he prefers to be elsewhere and Lake Hill is given to exaggerated gestures that make his character seem more like a caricature. The film at least until the right note, although it is surprising how to get there. A potentially acute secondary plot gets a happy ending not earn, but it is not unusual for a tale that wants to avoid inconvenience. His dead body than is strictly TV fare - the kind of thing you could watch late at night after a long trip around the navigation channel and not feel too guilty about it (if stay awake). As a multiplex destination, however, is a waste of time and money. Anyone desperate for a date movie should wait a couple of weeks for the inventive and certainly more satisfying, perhaps. To apply the terminology, his dead body is definitely not. Please, feel free to leave your reviews and comments about "Over Her Dead Body Movie" |
